The journey began in 1973, when N.T. Kuruvilla, a Chemical Engineering graduate from UDCT, started his professional career with Pfizer. This early exposure to pharmaceutical-grade standards laid the foundation for a lifelong pursuit of quality, innovation, and process excellence.

In 1974, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, he founded APIFAC, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey in the food ingredients industry. Over the following decades, the business expanded into bakery and pharmaceutical ventures, building deep expertise across multiple sectors and strengthening its understanding of ingredient science.

A major milestone came in 1998 with the establishment of Deccan Colours & Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., focused on synthetic food colours. By the early 2000s, the company had grown into a global leader in Patent Blue V production, earning international recognition for consistency, scale, and technical precision.

In 2003, leadership transitioned to the next generation — Thomas Kuruvilla and Joseph Biju Kuruvilla — bringing fresh vision while carrying forward the family’s strong foundation in ingredient innovation.

Recognizing the global shift toward natural, clean-label, and science-backed solutions, the company entered a transformative new chapter in 2008 with the launch of Nature Pure Supercritical Pvt. Ltd. This marked the introduction of advanced supercritical CO₂ extraction technology, enabling the production of premium botanical extracts with unmatched purity, potency, and consistency.
